Editorial Policy

Every fact here traces back to a page we could open and read. On laws, the utility commission, the legislature's bill page, or the signed law is the source. News stories and trackers help us find the bill, nothing more.

A seller's own product page is where we get kit specs and prices. When you see a listing like UL 3700, that's the seller's own claim. If we haven't seen the listing itself, we say so.

Our savings figures rest on NREL's PVWatts model, along with EIA's average home power prices. Each step is explained on the calculator page.
